Disotell-Dunsmore shuts the door, Hirsch adds two assists in Queens' victory in Olds

Olds, AB – The Red Deer Polytechnic Queens took another step in creating their own destiny towards an opening round bye in the semi-finals.
With a shutout by Tanya Disotell-Dunsmore and a pair of assists from Mary Hirsch, the Queens blanked the Olds College Broncos 3-0 Thursday evening. The RDP Queens can solidify first place in the standings with another win over the Broncos Friday at home.
The Queens opened the scoring on the power play at 6:21 of the first period.
Second-year Madison Sansom was stationed on the right side of the net and redirected her fourth goal of the season off a shot by defender Kyla Hansel. Bryn Pollard recorded the other assist.
At 7:49 of the middle stanza, Natalie Buttle gave the visitors a two goal cushion with her sixth goal and seventh point of the season. The first-year Bachelor of Kinesiology student corralled the puck in the slot, turned, and in one fluid motion beat Broncos netminder Cienna Kinghorn. Hirsch and Kassy Gaudette recorded the helpers.
Soyko (93) and Buttle (2)
Jailyn Bablitz's second of the season pushed the Queens ahead by a trio with 5:22 remaining in the game. The first-year forward from Valleyview raced up the right and converted on the glove side. Hirsch had the lone assist.
Queens Player of the Game Hirsch had two assists, which moved the Bachelor of Science Nursing student into second spot in the ACAC with 14 points.

Disotell-Dunsmore turned aside 18 shots for the road shutout. The first-year goalie from Cornwall has a 0.58 goals against average and 0.969 save percentage, which rank first in the league.
Kinghorn made 23 saves.
The Queens went one-for-three on the power play. The Broncos couldn't score on four tries.
The RDP Queens' league leading penalty kill has thwarted 94 per cent of opponents' opportunities with the extra skater.
On Friday, March 4, the first place Red Deer Polytechnic Queens (10-2-2) will host the third seed Broncos (6-8-0) at 5 pm to complete regular season competition.
The second place NAIT Ooks (9-4-0) have two games remaining and trail the Queens by four points.
The first place team will earn a trip to the final. The second place and third seed teams will face-off in a best-of-three semi-final series.
