Hirsch and Queens fire on all cylinders against Trojans in Calgary

Calgary, AB - Friday evening the Red Deer Polytechnic Queens peppered Trojans goalkeeper Ali Kieren with 54 shots, but weren't justly rewarded on the scoreboard.
Things changed 24 hours later. The Queens had their offence firing on all cylinders and defeated the Trojans 6-1 on the road.
The visitors opened the scoring at 4:25 of the first period.
Alesha Santos' point shot was stopped by SAIT's goalie Becca Boswell, but Natalie Buttle was able to cash in on the rebound and give the Queens an early 1-0 lead.

Just over a minute later, the Trojans capitalized on the power play. Brittany MacDonald entered the RDP zone and fired a shot over the shoulder of goaltender Madison Fox.
About seven minutes later, Mary Hirsch pounced on a rebound to recapture the lead for the Queens.
Then from the slot, Alli Soyko beat Boswell on the blocker side to extend the Queens' lead to 3-1 at 15:52. It was Soyko's fourth goal and 11th point.
Neither team could convert in the second period.
The Red Deer Polytechnic Queens struck on the power play at 4:25 of the third period. Captain Camryn Wallan's wrist shot was stopped by Boswell but Madison Sansom deposited the rebound into the cage.

Then Monica Bowtell scored back-to-back markers - her second and third of the season - to lift the RDP Queens to a 6-1 edge.
Pyper Alexander was named the Trojans Player of the Game, contributing an assist. With a goal and an assist, Mary Hirsch, a Bachelor of Science Nursing student, received the top performer honour for the Queens.
Maple Ridge's Madison Fox turned aside 12-of-13 shots (0.923%). The Bachelor of Science Nursing student has a 0.83 goals against average and 0.965 save percentage.
Boswell made 28 saves (0.824%).
On Thursday, March 3, the first place Red Deer Polytechnic Queens (9-2-2) will challenge the third seed Broncos (6-7-0) in Olds at 7 pm. Then one regular season game remains.
