Bio

Gerald Grobmeier is returning for his second year as Head Coach with the Kings Soccer program. He moved to Red Deer in the summer of 2015 with his wife and 2 children to continue his career with the RCMP.  Gerald's soccer journey started as a youth player in Regina, Saskatchewan culminating in playing for Team Saskatchewan and being crowned Provincial Champions. Gerald has lived throughout Canada and Germany and played club soccer in Germany. Gerald has coached extensively since 2010 starting with youth soccer in Nova Scotia and in 2015 began coaching locally with the Red Deer Renegades.  in 2018 Gerald became an assistant coach with the RDC Kings specializing on the defensive play of the kings.  In 2019 Gerald was part of the Kings soccer program that qualified for the national tournament for the first time in program history.  2020 saw Gerald take on the privilege of coaching the RDC Kings Soccer program with the aim of returning to Nationals as soon as possible.  

Gerald has also found success at the youth level winning several tournaments in Prince Edward Island, Nova Scotia, Alberta and British Columbia.  Gerald's youth teams have finished 2nd at provincials 3 times. 

Gerald is currently the Chief of Police with the Red Deer RCMP and is very connected to Red Deer College both inside and outside of athletics.  Gerald has received training through the National Coaching Certificate Program, received training through Nova Scotia Soccer and is working on his National Licence. Gerald is excited about the future of the Kings Soccer program and building a program of excellence. 

Gerald is a firm believer of supporting youth soccer in Central Alberta and growing the game locally.
