Boston Pizza RDP Athlete of the Week for February 2, 2026

Nolan Doell played a significant role in helping the Red Deer Polytechnic Kings Hockey team defeat the Concordia University Thunder twice, contributing four points over two games.

In Friday’s 6-3 victory, Doell scored the Kings’ second goal at 17:16 of the first period. Then, he assisted on teammate Sean Michalevich’s goal at 6:11 and Alex Bernauer’s marker at 17:13 of the middle frame. Doell, a Bachelor of Education Middle Years student, was named the North Star Sports Kings Player of the Game.

On Saturday, Doell added his second goal of the weekend series on the power play at 2:34 into the third period. The first-place Kings (17-3) went on to win 6-3. The Red Deer Polytechnic Kings have already solidified a spot in the playoffs.

Doell, a fourth-year forward from Martensville, Saskatchewan, leads the league in goals (18) and is tied for the most points (30).

This weekend, Doell and the RDP Kings will face-off against the Portage College Voyageurs on the road.

Nolan Doell had another tremendous weekend on the ice for the Red Deer Polytechnic Kings Hockey team. The fourth-year forward contributed a total of five points over two games as the Kings picked up a pair of wins and retained their first place standing (10-0).

In Friday’s 4-1 victory over the Portage College Voyageurs, Doell, a Bachelor of Education student, scored the Kings’ second goal, which turned out to be the game-winning-goal. He added the team’s fourth marker, providing insurance.

Doell, who is from Martensville, Saskatchewan, scored the Kings’ second and third goals in Saturday’s 7-6 decision over the Voyageurs, impressively recording his 50th career goal in the ACAC. He also assisted on the Kings’ sixth goal, scored by teammate Nic Andrusiak. For his outstanding performance, Doell was named the North Star Sports Kings Player of the Game.

Doell and the RDP Kings will face-off against the SAIT Trojans on Friday, November 28.

Nolan Doell was a difference maker, helping the Red Deer Polytechnic Kings Hockey team defeat the Briercrest College Clippers twice. He contributed a total of five points over two games. On Friday, Doell led the Kings to a 4-3 victory, recording an assist on his team’s first goal and scoring the second marker on the power play.

In Saturday’s 6-4 win, the Bachelor of Education Middle Years student from Martensville, Saskatchewan, scored the Kings’ first, second and fourth goals to record a hat trick. Doell, a fourth-year forward, was named the North Star Sports Kings Player of the Game.

He leads the ACAC in goals (four) and points (five).

This weekend, Doell and the Kings will play the University of Alberta Augustana Vikings twice.

This past weekend, Nolan Doell made an impact on the ice for the Red Deer Polytechnic Kings Hockey team. Doell recorded four points, helping the Kings earn a pair of victories over the University of Alberta – Augustana Vikings.

In Friday’s 6-3 win, the third-year forward scored the Kings’ fifth and sixth goals, providing insurance for RDP.

Then, Doell, a Bachelor of Education Middle Years student, recorded the Polytechnic’s second goal and assisted on the team’s third marker scored by Kasey Hiemstra in the Kings’ 5-0 shutout victory on Saturday.

In seven games, Doell has five goals and one assist.

Mr. Mikes RDP Athlete of the Week for January 30, 2023

It is quite the weekend for the rookies as Nolan Doell is named the Kings Athlete of the Week. This is Doell’s first year in the Alberta Colleges Athletic Conference (ACAC) and he sure has been producing lately as he is riding a four-game point streak. He was able to score on the powerplay, even strength and shorthanded. It was a fast start to his weekend as he opened the scoring 23 seconds into the game against the Portage College Voyageurs. With under two minutes to play in the first period, he scored a shorthanded goal. To complete the hat trick, he scored with five minutes left to play in the second period. He would cap off his weekend with an assist on Saturday afternoon. In his four-game point streak, he has four goals and three assists to give him a total of 17 points on the season so far. With his hat trick on Friday, he has now cracked the top five in goals in the ACAC with eight on the year.

Head Coach Trevor Keeper had nothing but good things to say about Doell after his performance on Friday.

“He is a fiery guy and very quick. We started him and he played with some emotion right off the start. He was buzzing the whole game because he was just prepared to play.”
