RDP Athletics Recap

This past week, the Red Deer Polytechnic Kings Hockey team earned Alberta Colleges Athletic Conference (ACAC) silver. The RDP Queens Rodeo team achieved several top 10 results in southern Alberta.

Here is a summary of the recent results:

Kings vs. Trojans | Gary W. Harris Canada Games Centre | Friday, March 20

The SAIT Trojans downed the RDP Kings 3-0 in game three of the best-of-five championship, winning the ACAC Championship. The Red Deer Polytechnic Kings achieved ACAC silver.

The RDP Kings' Tanner Sklaruk and Nolan Doell received special recognition across the league. Doell, a fourth-year forward from Martensville, Saskatchewan, was named an ACAC Men's Hockey Academic All-Canadian, Top Scorer and member of the First All-Conference team.

Sklaruk, a fourth-year defenceman from Stony Plain, was honoured as ACAC Men's Hockey Player of the Year and a First All-Conference team selection.

Rodeo

Queens | SAIRT Spring Rodeo | Claresholm | March 21-22

The Red Deer Polytechnic Queens Rodeo team had several memorable performances at the Southern Alberta College Rodeo Team (SAIRT) Spring Rodeo. Kaybree Zunti, a Bachelor of Arts in Psychology student, was first in Barrel Racing on Saturday (15.97) and fifth on Sunday (16.43). She placed 10th in Goat Tying on Saturday (16.5) and fifth on Sunday (11.4). In the Breakaway Challenge, Zunti solidified third on Saturday (3.3).

Elyse Terpsma, a Welder apprentice, ranked seventh in Pole Bending on Saturday (22.64).
