RDP Kings Cross Country Running team places first, Queens third at Grand Prix #1 (North)

Edmonton, AB - Despite not competing in the Alberta Colleges Athletic Conference (ACAC) for almost two years because of COVID-19 health and safety protocols, the Red Deer Polytechnic Cross Country Running team did not miss a beat Saturday afternoon.
At Running Room Grand Prix #1 (North), the RDP Kings took top spot among the ACAC male teams competing in Alberta's capital city.
The Red Deer Polytechnic Queens solidified third as a group.
The Kings dominated the top five individual positions over 8 km. Lacombe's Daniel Szucs (30:22) finished third among ACAC men. Teammate Devin Saunders (32:08), a Bachelor of Business Administration General Management student, followed and newcomer Jayden Wildcat (33:23) had an impressive showing, finishing fifth.

Leading the way for the RDP Queens was first-year Justine Larson (29:53), who wrapped up third spot among ACAC female runners over 6 km in Edmonton.

The host Concordia University Thunder had a strong day. The women's team was first, followed by the University of Alberta Augustana Vikings. The Thunder's Emma Derbyshire (28:44) paced the ACAC females and teammate Taylor Chamberlain (29:12) was next.
The Concordia University Thunder men were behind the Kings in second. Leonard Chesoo (28:37) and Brandon Toal (29:21) led the way for the Thunder with top two finishes.
The Grande Prairie Regional College Wolves Men's team captured third.
Medicine Hat College hosted Running Room Grand Prix #1 (South).
The University of Alberta Augustana Vikings will host Running Room Grand Prix #2 on Saturday, October 2 at 2 pm.
