The RDC Kings Volleyball team hosted the Kings Christmas Tournament from December 28-30, featuring some of the top men's volleyball teams from across the nation and there were many exciting matches.

The Red Deer College Queens Basketball team participated in the North-South Challenge Tournament in Edmonton, from December 28-29, and the RDC squad gained some valuable experience for the second half of the season.

This Week in RDC Athletics
Four RDC teams are excited to get back into conference action this weekend. The Kings & Queens Basketball teams will play a home-and-home series against the St. Mary's University Lightning. Both volleyball teams will compete against the Ambrose University Lions in a pair of matches.
Here is a summary of what is happening this week in RDC Athletics.

The Red Deer College Queens will host the St. Mary's University Lightning. With eight games under their belts, the young Queens are expected to progress even further in the second half of the season.

The venue will shift to St. Mary's University for the rematch.
Kings Basketball | Friday, Jan. 4 | 8:00 p.m. | Gary W. Harris Canada Games Centre
The fifth place RDC Kings (4-4) will hit their home court to face the St. Mary's University Lightning (1-7). The Kings are only two points out of a playoff position but have played less games than three teams above them in the standings.
Spencer Klassen, a six-foot-two guard, continues to be a key player for the Kings. The Bachelor of Education student from Red Deer sits second in the league with 22.4 points per game.

Kings Basketball | Saturday, Jan. 5 | 8:00 p.m. | St. Mary's University
The Kings will take on the Lightning in Calgary.
Queens Volleyball | Friday, Jan. 4 | 6:00 p.m. | Ambrose University
The Queens Volleyball team (6-6) will challenge the third place Ambrose University Lions (8-4) in Calgary. The RDC Queens sit in fifth spot in the south, only two points behind the Medicine Hat College Rattlers (7-5) for the final playoff position. In the Queens' final conference match of 2018, they impressively defeated the Lions in five sets (20-25, 25-23, 25-14, 23-25 and 15-12).
Talented libero Kaylee Domoney has recorded a total of 183 digs over 12 matches which places the third-year Business Administration Human Resources student second in Alberta Colleges Athletic Conference (ACAC) Women's Volleyball.

In a rematch, the Red Deer College Queens will entertain the Lions at home.
Kings Volleyball | Friday, Jan. 4 | 8:00 p.m. | Ambrose University
The third place RDC Kings (8-4) will face the Ambrose University Lions (2-10) in Calgary. Before the holiday break, the Kings downed the Lions twice – a sweep at home (25-23, 25-16 and 25-15) and a four set road victory (25-27, 25-9, 25-21 and 26-24).
