Red Deer, November 24, 2018 – On the second day at the Alberta Colleges Athletic Conference (ACAC) Curling Fall Regional, the student-athletes fine-tuned their craft and increased the level of competition at the Pidherney Curling Centre. Heading into the final day, the Queens lead the women's teams. The Kings sit in second and the RDC Mixed Curling team will look to make some ground on Sunday.

Brad Hamilton, RDC Curling Head Coach, has seen some good things from his teams especially with a busy Saturday schedule. "It's been a pretty good weekend. Today was a rough one for the men and the women with three games back-to-back-to-back, so a couple of wins were nice," he says. "The men got two wins but may be disappointed that they had an opportunity for a third win there, and didn't quite get it on their last rock. The men are 3-2 and they had a big win against Concordia, who won it all last year so I think they felt pretty good about that. At the start of the week, the guys thought that if they could go 4-2 they would be happy."

"The women played great today. They had a really good first game and came out a little bit flat in the second. But they got it going and won that, and played really well tonight," says Hamilton. "They are 4-1 and we are ecstatic with that. Now that the women have gone 4-1, I am sure that 5-1 will feel a lot better."

"The mixed team had a bit of a rough day but played probably the two best mixed teams and came out on the short end. They are a bunch of newbies so hopefully it is a learning experience," says Hamilton. "The mixed team has two tomorrow and will probably feel a lot better about the weekend if they can win those and be 3-2, and sit pretty good going into the next one."

Hamilton wants his team to focus on the present. "It's all about getting as many wins as you can," he says. "It will be a battle. Just one game at a time and see how many we can get."

The RDC Mixed Curling team lost 9-2 to the Lakeland College Rustlers and then 7-0 to the U of A Augustana Vikings. They sport a 1-2 record.
