The RDC Golf team will hit the links for the first time this season in Alberta Colleges Athletic Conference (ACAC) competition. Both soccer squads will play road games in Olds and Calgary, and the Cross Country Running team will compete at Grand Prix #2 in Calgary.

Here is a summary of what is happening this week in RDC Athletics.

 

RDC Golf | September 15 – 16 | North Regional | Lac La Biche

In the first ACAC tournament of the season, the RDC Golf team will compete at the North Regional over two days at Lac La Biche Golf & Country Club. The student-athletes and coaches are optimistic and ready to hit the course. "The Queens look outstanding this year and the Kings will be a solid group of five," says RDC Golf Head Coach Scott Bergdahl. "The student-athletes are excited and anxious to get the season started."

 

 

Queens Soccer | Saturday, September 15 | 12:00 p.m. | Olds

The RDC Queens (1 - 0) will compete against the Broncos (1 – 0 - 1) on the road and Queens Head Coach Esad Elkaz noted the development of the student-athletes' game in the early stages of the season, especially in the offensive zone. "We talked about improving this year and we scored four goals in our first game," says Elkaz. "We have a lot of speed and a lot more offence this season."

Queens Soccer | Sunday, September 16 | 12:00 p.m. | SAIT

In the final game of a two-game road trip, the Red Deer College Queens (1 - 0) will play the SAIT Trojans (2 - 0) in Calgary.

Kings Soccer | Saturday, September 15 | 2:00 p.m. | Olds

The Olds College Broncos (0 - 2) will host the RDC Kings (1 - 0) in an afternoon contest. The Kings are coming off an impressive 6 – 0 shutout victory over the Ambrose University Lions and want to keep that momentum going on the road. Third-year midfielder, Theo Gill, and first-year forward, Colin Purnell, share the team lead in goal scoring with a pair each.

In Calgary, the RDC Kings (1 - 0) will face the SAIT Trojans (2 - 0).

Cross Country Running | Saturday, September 15 | Grand Prix #2 | SAIT/St. Mary's University

After an outstanding performance last weekend, the Red Deer College Cross Country Running team will race in Calgary at Running Room Grand Prix #2. Jill Stewart and the Queens will look to repeat their first place performances, and the Kings will aim to push the SAIT Trojans for top spot. SAIT and St. Mary's University will co-host the event.

In exhibition, the SAIT Trojans will host the RDC Queens.

Queens Hockey | Saturday, September 15 | 11:00 a.m. | SAIT

In Calgary, the Red Deer College Queens will challenge the Cochrane Chaos.

Queens Hockey | Saturday, September 15 | 7:30 p.m. | SAIT

The Queens will face-off against the Calgary Titans in a non-conference game.

  

RDC Fall Volleyball Classic | September 14 - 15 | Gary W. Harris Canada Games Centre

This weekend, catch the future of collegiate volleyball as senior high women and men hone their skills on the court. The majority of the matches will be played at the incredible Gary W. Harris Canada Games Centre/Centre des Jeux du Canada Gary W. Harris.
