This week in RDC Athletics

This weekend, the Hockey Queens will face-off against the Olds College Broncos in a home-and-home series and the Kings Hockey team will play the Portage College Voyageurs in a pair of home games. The RDC Basketball teams will host the Ambrose University Lions and the Lethbridge College Kodiaks in the RDC Main Gym.

 

Queens Hockey | Thursday, November, 16 | 7:00 p.m. | Olds College

The Red Deer College Queens Hockey team (5 wins-3 regulation losses-2 shootout losses) will face the Olds College Broncos (4 wins-6 losses) on the road. The Queens share second spot in the ACAC Women's Hockey standings with the NAIT Ooks (12 points). MacEwan University sits in top spot with 18 points. Jade Petrie has scored the most goals (6) and goaltender Tracie Kikuchi has the third lowest goals against average (1.60) in the league. The Olds College Broncos are an improved team and currently occupy the fourth spot in ACAC Women's Hockey with 8 points.

Over ten games, the Queens have scored an average of 2.3 goals per game and they have allowed only 1.9 goals against. Over the same number of games, the Broncos have averaged 1.9 goals per game and they have allowed 2.4 goals against.

Queens Hockey | Saturday, November 18 | 7:00 p.m. | NexSource Centre

In Sylvan Lake, the RDC Queens will face-off against the Olds College Broncos.

 

Kings Hockey | Friday, November 17 | 7:00 p.m. | Penhold Multiplex

The Red Deer College Kings Hockey team (6-4-0-0) will host the Portage College Voyageurs (1-8-0-1). Over ten games, the Kings have scored an average of 4.0 goals per game and they have allowed only 2.4 against. Dylan Thudium has scored the second most goals (7) and points (16) in ACAC Men's Hockey. Troy Trombley has the third best goals against average (2.63) in the league. The Kings will enter the contest with momentum after a pair of solid victories against the SAIT Trojans last weekend.

Kings Hockey | Saturday, November 18 | 1:30 p.m. | Penhold Multiplex

In an afternoon tilt, the Kings will compete against the Voyageurs in a rematch.

 

Queens Basketball | Friday, November 17 | 6:00 p.m. | RDC

The Red Deer College Queens (1-3) will host the Ambrose University Lions (1-4). Over four games, the Queens have averaged 2.0 blocks per game, which is tied for top spot in ACAC Women's Basketball.  

Queens Basketball | Saturday, November 18 | 6:00 p.m. | RDC

The RDC Queens will play the Lethbridge College Kodiaks (1-3).

 

Kings Basketball | Friday, November 17 | 8:00 p.m. | RDC

The RDC Kings (2-2) will hit the hardwood against the Ambrose University Lions (2-3). Dshawn Tyrell has averaged 23.0 points per game, which is fourth best in ACAC Men's Basketball. Darien Valdes has the fifth best shooting percentage in the league from behind the three-point arc (50%). As a team, the Kings have averaged 9.0 steals and 43.8 rebounds per game.

The RDC Kings will face the Lethbridge College Kodiaks (3-1).
