The RDC Queens and Kings Cross-Country Running teams will compete at the Canadian Collegiate Athletic Association (CCAA) Cross-Country Running National Championships in Blainville, Quebec this Saturday. Both Volleyball squads will play the Ambrose University Lions in a home-and-home series and the Hockey Kings will face-off against the SAIT Trojans in a pair of games.

 

Cross-Country Running | November 11 | National Championships | Blainville, Quebec

The Red Deer College Queens and Kings Cross-Country Running teams earned their way to the Canadian Collegiate Athletic Association (CCAA) Cross-Country Running National Championships on November 11 after a strong showing at the Alberta Colleges Athletic Conference (ACAC) championships on their home course. The Queens impressively captured ACAC team gold while the Kings put forth a gritty effort and won bronze.

Representing the Queens in Blainville, Quebec will be Jordanna CotaJill StewartJanaya GarbeShaelyn MoltzahnTeagan Shapka and Sadie Borgfjord

Adam WassStephen RowleyDevon GurneyCaleb WeberLucas Wessner and Cory DeRaadt will compete for the RDC Kings.

RDC Cross-Country Running Head Coach Kari Elliott feels that the team is ready for the championships. "Our training has been going well and the team is feeling fast. The weather has forced us to train inside, which is never ideal, but we made it work," said Elliott. "Almost everyone feels some fatigue but the excitement of going to nationals has definitely given us the motivating push to keep on working hard." 

The CCAA Cross-Country Running National Championships will take place on Saturday, November 11 in Blainville, Quebec. Collège Lionel-Groulx will host the event. The women will race at 9:30 a.m. (MST) and the men will compete at 10:30 a.m. (MST).

Queens Volleyball | Friday, November 10 | 6:00 p.m. | Ambrose University

The Red Deer College Queens (5-3) will compete against the Ambrose University Lions (2-4) in Calgary. The Queens (10 points) sit in a tie for second spot in the ACAC Women's Volleyball South Division and only trail the Lethbridge College Kodiaks (12 points) by two points. Miranda Dawe has the third most kills (90) and the fourth best hitting percentage (0.457) in the league.

Queens Volleyball | Saturday, November 11 | 6:00 p.m. | RDC

The Queens will host the Lions in a weekend rematch.

 

Kings Volleyball | Friday, November 10 | 8:00 p.m. | Ambrose University

The RDC Kings (5-3) will face the Ambrose University Lions (0-6) in Calgary. The Medicine Hat College Rattlers lead the ACAC Men's Volleyball South Division with 14 points. The Kings, Kodiaks and Trojans share second spot, and they all have 10 points in the division standings. As a team, the Kings have averaged 10 kills per set and 9.41 digs per set.

The Kings will host the Lions.  

 

Kings Hockey | Thursday, November 9 | 7:00 p.m. | Penhold Multiplex

In a rare Thursday evening game, the Red Deer College Kings (4-4) will host the SAIT Trojans (6-2). Tyler Berkholtz shares fourth spot in ACAC Men's Hockey scoring with 10 points. Dylan Thudium has scored 6 goals this season which is the second most goals in the league. The RDC Kings (8 points) sit in a tie for fourth place in ACAC Men's Hockey with the MacEwan University Griffins.

In Calgary, the RDC Kings will compete against the SAIT Trojans.
